Videos! Create. Compress. Upload. Use.

Quick guide

Why use videos?

Get your point across, which is hard with written words. For new ideas. To entertain. Touch emotional points. Create interest. For preference – if it’s on video people will skip the written content. Differentiate. Provide a better experience. Tell a story.

It’s not required to create, but you can.

1. Create

Video tours

All you need is your smartphone. In video settings choose 720p.

With your phone in a horizontal position, record a video of your property. Present the details you consider necessary to clearly show your property.

Share how it feels to live in the property and neighbourhood. Do you have a separate Storage room? And Private parking? Show that too.

Video duration: make it short, below 10 min.

A few rules:
Do not provide any form of contact, direct or indirect, like phone numbers, emails, pages, links or addresses, etc.
Do not show or indicate the property building number and apartment number. To show the street is ok.

Tren-di verifies that the video tour correspond to the correct property.

Personal video (video cv)

All you need is your smartphone. In video settings choose 720p.

With your phone record a video of yourself. Present yourself and your family, talk about your career, current job and income, and why you want to rent the property.

Video duration: be brief, below 5 min.

A few rules:
Do not provide any form of contact, direct or indirect, like phone numbers, emails, pages, links or addresses, etc.
The Personal Video must feature the guest.

2. Where to host

Tren-di | YouTube | Vimeo

Videos can be hosted on Tren-di or an external site like YouTube or Vimeo.

If you are a YouTube or Vimeo content creator, using those services might be easier for you. For all other users will be easier to upload your videos to Tren-di.

3. Compress

Compress Specs

Before uploading to Tren-di, you need to compress your file first. The video you recorded will likely be a very large file. We need to convert it to a lower size (lower resolution).

Use a smartphone app to compress your video to a lower resolution but still with reasonable quality.

After using the app, the video should have the following specs:

Format: MP4 (only MP4 is supported)
Video Tour: Max file size 150MB
Personal video: Max file size 80MB

App suggestion for video compression

Free App for Android phone: ‘Smart Video Compressor’, from Clogica.

Open the App. Click +Select. Select your video. Use the horizontal bar to select the Target Size. Click Convert. Rename file if you want and select output folder. Click DONE. Wait for processing. It takes about 1-2 minutes. Done. Review your video to check final quality.

Free App for iPhone: ‘Video Compressor – Shrink Video’, from Zheng Weijie.

Open the App. Click the round button. Select your video. Use the horizontal bar to select the Target Size. Click the down arrow to compress. Wait for processing. Once finished (it only takes a few seconds), click More. Select ‘Save to Files’, select your folder (rename the file if you want) and click Save. Done. Review your video to check final quality.

The result of both Apps will be an MP4 file. Now you have your video with the right type (MP4) and size for Tren-di.

App for video editing (in case you need to edit your video)

Free App: ‘Splice – Video Editor & Maker’, from Bending Spoons.
Available for both Android and iOS.

These are just some ideas. You can obviously use any App you like.

4. Upload | Manage | Use

Easy to use

Go to Dashboard / Video cv, or Dashboard / Video tour and upload your video. You can see all your videos in the same location. Start building your library.

Guests don’t have the ‘Video tour’ tab.

Booking Request
When doing a booking request you can select the video(s) you’d like to use from your library.

Add to Listing
When you add or edit a listing you can select the video(s) you’d like to use from your library.

Approval
In both cases Tren-di will review and approve your video. Only then it will be published.

That’s it!

Alternatively, if your video is in YouTube or Vimeo, simply enter a link to it.
